Katrina (Katya) Rosseini is a visionary strategist and key driver of cybersecurity innovation. She advises and provides strategic insight to venture capital firms, investment banks, and capital markets to identify and evaluate emerging technologies with the potential for market disruption and national significance. She is a Fast Company Executive Board member, reflecting her leadership in business, cybersecurity, emerging technology, and innovation. Katrina co-founded a cybersecurity company focused on securing smart devices at the chipset level. Her research and leadership are central to safeguarding critical systems and driving innovation. Her work aligns with her doctoral research in cybersecurity, where she developed a methodology based on an algorithm to address the most exploitable vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure systems, including those that monitor and operate water, power, and essential services, protecting them from nation-state attacks. Her efforts are dedicated to fostering resilience in an increasingly connected world, ensuring that security evolves alongside technological advancements.

As Head of Healthcare and Innovation at the Ascendant Group and a Founding Member of the Forbes Agency Council, Katrina brings deep insight into the intersection of healthcare, technology, policy, and governance. Her 14-year tenure on the Board of Directors at St. Rose Hospital, where she led governance efforts and secured $16 million in funding, uniquely positions her to guide healthcare innovation and inform strategic direction at the Ascendant Group. In the final phase of her board service, she played a key role in the hospital’s M&A process, culminating in its acquisition.

Katrina’s problem-solving talents were recognized early in her career when Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed her to the inter-governmental affairs team for the California Performance Review, which focused on implementing efficiencies across state government. She later transitioned into finance, working at UBS Financial Services and then Morgan Stanley, where she became a partner on a team managing over a billion dollars in assets for retail and institutional clients. During the 2007–2008 financial crisis, she became a trusted voice in media, offering clear insights on ABC10 and NBC’s KCRA3 in Sacramento. Today, her commentary on cybersecurity, AI, healthcare, and quantum computing is featured in various media outlets, where she brings clarity to emerging challenges and helps shape public understanding of complex technologies.

A boundless champion for innovation, Katrina partnered with Advocacy Chiefs and the Mayor’s Economic and Innovation Committee to launch a Sacramento-based program supporting SBIR-stage startups, helping to drive regional tech growth. She has advised government relations strategies for both Advocacy Chiefs and California Policy Solutions while serving as lead idea curator for 8Orcas, a womanowned advisory group of doctorates. Her efforts have helped secure over $80 million in funding across sectors, reinforcing her reputation as an effective strategist.

Katrina’s academic background demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence across business, technology, and emerging innovation. She earned a B.A. in Business Organization Studies with a minor in Managerial Economics from UC Davis, an MBA in Finance (Summa Cum Laude) from Colorado Tech University, and completed Harvard Business School’s Accelerating Board Diversity program. She also earned a certificate in Blockchain Strategy from Oxford’s Saïd Business School, where she led a healthcare use case focused on driving the adoption of emerging tech in an essential sector. Katrina completed the course component of the Doctor of Engineering in Cybersecurity cum laude and is working on finalizing her dissertation for defense in July 2025.

Known for her principled and strategic approach, Katrina brings clarity to complex challenges and consistently delivers results. As a global thought leader at the intersection of technology, governance, and national security, she continues to shape how critical organizations respond to an evolving and vulnerable digital landscape.
